As the accumulation of old buildings that carry historic weight continues to grow, dealing with them as a dichotomy of total destruction or careful preservation is no longer sufficient. This thesis carefully reads the architectural traditions of powerful institutions to produce something that reframes their qualities without the need to erase or uphold them. Transforming the building to obscure the distinction of an addition, this thesis is at once old and new, (un)obtrusive in its subversion, uncanny in its differences.
